School Fundraising: Is it Always About the Money?

Is raising money the only reason to have a school carnival or other event? No way! School events can be great community builders. They offer a chance for families to do something together that’s fun and out of the ordinary.
A Santa Clarita, California school held an event at a local bookstore that was not a huge financial success but reaped many other rewards:
Santa Clarita Elementary School may not have made a lot of money during its annual fundraiser, but school officials say it were a huge success anyway as the event promoted literacy and got families to spend time together.
Kids and parents were able to watch their teachers read books aloud Wednesday evening at a local bookstore, with a portion of book sales going to the school.
