Free School Carnival Game Ideas

October is a big month for school carnivals. Whether its called a fall festival or Halloween carnival or something else, all school carnivals have game booths. Here are a few school carnival game ideas:
- Remember Plinko from Price is Right? The handyman in your PTA group can build a board to create a similar game. Family Fun website calls it Star Seeker and offers building instructions.
- Bounce houses are usually very popular at elementary school carnivals. Some rental supply companies have blow up obstacle courses. There’s lanes for at least two competitors. Have one volunteer at the beginning of the course to take tickets/money and then one volunteer at the end to determine a winner and give away a small prize.
- Sports games are always popular: putt - putt golf contest, football toss, basketball throw, etc. The MDA Carnival site offers instructions on over a dozen different games.
- Bucket Bonanza is a variation on a tried and true carnival game. Players attempt to toss Ping Pong Balls into empty coffee cans or other buckets set up on a board. Other toss games include bean bag toss, bottle ring toss and others.
- Duck pond is always a good one for the little ones. Fill a kiddie swimming pool or steel bucket with water. Use a waterproof marker to put numbers on the bottom of plastic ducks. Each number corresponds to a particular prize.
