As an animal lover, it amazes me that some school district would think this is a fantastic idea. Aside from teaching the children that animals are there for our torture and pleasure and are not sentient beings, this crazy idea doesn't even give a good Return on Investment (ROI) for the school. All this shame and abuse for only $1,000 or so in the coffers? A basic 'students vs teachers basketball game' with concession stand refreshments and special seating (on a couch) on the court could yield over that amount in a heartbeat.
