Parents Lead the Way in Improving School Grounds

Communities view their public school facilities as something to take pride in. Not only the educational space such as classrooms and gymnasiums but even the style of the building itself can be a source of inspiration.
Parents at Starkville High School, Starkville Mississippi, banded together in true community grassroots style to pursue a building improvement project. The group plans to raise $20,000 to build an improved entrace to the high school including landscape design.
Members of the Parent, Teacher and Student Association are planning a dinner to help raise funds for the project. Parent leader Susan Tomlinson addressed the school board to seek approval for the event.
“We would like to do something nice for the high school this year,†Tomlinson said.
She said a dinner to highlight talented students at the high school could provide some good visibility for the school to business and industry leaders in Starkville.
