Checking in on the eFundraising Magazine Contest
Posted by Jim Berigan on 07 Oct 2008 in: Fundraising Ideas, Magazines
It’s time to check in with the latest winners of the eFundraising’s magazine contest. For those of you who don’t know about this contest with great prizes, you can read all about it in a recent article I wrote.
But for a quick recap: eFundraising is holding a magazine sales contest on its site. All you have to do is visit this page and sign your group up. You will then be instructed on how to set up a virtual magazine store. It’s very easy.
Once this is all squared away, you email your friends, family, and other associates and ask them if they would like to support your child’s school by buying magazine subscriptions up to 85% off newsstand prices.
If they are interested, they just have to click the link in your email, follow the prompts, and your school is sent 40% of the sale price. Do this with enough people, and the total can really add up.
Now, here’s where the contest comes in. The top seller of the month taken from all of the participating groups wins an iPhone. The top seller for the entire promotional contest wins a 42” plasma television!
One of the recent winners of both the iPhone and flat screen television is Betty Michelli. She has an incredibly moving story. You’ll definitely want to read this. Here is what Betty experienced, in her own words:
I would like to extend my profound thanks and gratitude to www.magfundraising.com. The fundraiser has allowed me to raise money to help with my four year old grandson’s medical bills. He was diagnosed with autism and epilepsy and if he gets early intervention for his treatment, he will be able to function with normal children in schools and society.
Unfortunately, the treatment is very expensive and not covered by insurance. We could not afford to continue his treatment. I tried numerous fundraisers which was a hassle to sell and collect. It made me uncomfortable asking people to donate or take a chance on a prize. It broke my heart that we had to stop his treatment but I had already used all my savings. Then God answered my prayers and I stumbled on this fundraiser site.
The fundraiser has proven to be very simple, easy to do. All you have to do is send emails to all your friends and family. The fundraiser site does all the work for you. You don’t have to worry about collecting money, delivering merchandise. All you have to do is sit back and wait for your monthly check from the 40% profits. You can set up your site to send out reminders to everyone on your email list in case they forgot to order. In addition, the personnel staff has been extremely helpful whenever I needed them.
The site offers a wide variety of magazines for all age groups or interest. I had no trouble getting people to order once everyone saw how much money they were saving at this fundraiser site. We sold 180 magazines totaling $4,222.00. In fact, I was the top seller in my group and won both the IPhone and flat screen TV for this month. I elected to accept the cash in lieu of the items so that I could contribute the money to Anthony’s medical expenses. Not only did my grandson receive 40% of the profits which totaled $1,688.80 but also the $1400.00 cash in lieu of the prizes. I set up an account for his medical treatment and deposited a total of $3,088.88. This enabled us to continue with his ABA treatment without us having to take out loans.
Thank you www.magfundraising.com for your help in giving my grandson an opportunity to obtain his treatments so that he can break through the walls he is encased in and allow him to be able to enjoy life like any other child his age. Without the funds that were raised through the fundraiser, Anthony would have been another special needs child to be isolated from society. I can happily report that at this time due to his treatments, he has advanced in his special class. He brought a book home to his mother and read it to her. That was a great milestone for him and we could not have achieved it without your help.
I strongly recommend this website to everyone and I will continue to use this fundraiser. Again, thank you for giving us the opportunity to raise the money for his treatment.
