Raise money for your school group and
promote a healthy lifestyle at the same time
Finding ways to promote a healthy way of life is very important
to today's parents and educators. There are several ways
that your school group can encourage healthy living and
raise some funds for the school. You can either promote
a healthy food fundraiser, or host an activity that is exercise
based. Here are several variations on healthy fundraisers
for your group to consider:
1. Popcorn
Popcorn
makes a good fundraiser because it's a snack that many people
enjoy. Unlike frozen foods, popcorn fundraisers do not require
refrigeration. These resealable bags are not too bukly or heavy
so they are easy to store and deliver. The popcorn comes in regular
butter, lowfat butter, natural, and kettle corn.
2. Fruit Sales
Many growers offer fruit wholesale to schools so that they
can sell it to raise funds. Apples, oranges, pears, and
grapefruits are available. Some fruit sales are done
seasonally and some are available year-round.
3. Walks and other "Thons"
Walk-a-thons are fun ways to promote exercise, for kids
to have a fun day and to raise funds for your school group.
Usually these raise money when kids get family and
friends to pledge a certain amount per mile or for the day.
Businesses can sponsor the walk-a-thon for additional revenue
for the school. Other popular thons include jump rope, skip,
hop scotch and cycling.
4. Dance Fundraiser
Dances
are popular especially with junior high, high school, college
groups and adults. There are a variety of ways that a dance
fundraiser can be planned. Choose a theme that will be fun
for your group. Ticket sales, food, raffles and auctions
are just a few ways to raise funds with a dance.
5. Bottled Water Sales
Bottled water is popular as an alternative to sugary soda.
Your school can have private label bottled water and sell
it at school. The bottles can be sold as cases or
individually. It can be sold at sports games and concession
stands.
